Keeping Balance

Einstein once said "Life is like riding a bicycle - in order to keep your balance, you must keep moving."

To help keep the balance in our Pathfinder club, we decided to move forward by offering bicycle repair to those who were interested.

With a strong response from the kids and a very knowledgeable teacher we were on our way.

Avid cyclist and fellow church member Grant Geschke took the lead, teaching everything from how to fix a flat tire to repairing the chain and replacing brake cable.

Michael helped him out with the hands on activities and also keeping some semblance of sanity happening within the group. (they had a lot of very energetic boys on their hands!)

Perhaps in the future we will be able to offer the rest of the biking honor, but for now we're at least hoping that after weeks of working on bikes, our Pathfinders will be much better equipped to face the world of bikes and bicycle repair!

Piece of Cake!

Pathfinders offers all kinds of different honors that the kids can earn. As leaders, it's been interesting trying to decide what we teach on a limited budget with limited teacher.

One honor that was easy to choose was with much enthusiasm from the kids was Cake Decorating.

Erin headed that up with the assistance of Ana, a professional pastry chef from our church.

Our favorite part of that honor was that there were usually left overs that needed a home. Michael and I were always happy to oblige!
